myLIBRO was founded in 2017 when our co-founder’s son, who was an avid library user, saw the AI ‘Athena’ that his dad was creating and thought “It would be cool if libraries could use this same technology to make finding library materials easier!” The mission? To create an app that allows patrons to connect to their libraries in a new and seamless way through conversational technology. Then, not only would library usage increase, but librarians would be given more time to complete tasks and improve efficiency. The concept turned into the all-in-one application that it is today, being used by public and academic libraries across the country. 

As COVID-19 caused ripples around the world, libraries were also affected – cancellations of events, programs, and many closing their doors for a short period. Observing this pivot to a new normal, myLIBRO has set out to help libraries re-open by extending traditional services to also offer library curbside service pickup.
